SUMMARY: What would your first date with him be like? I know first dates might not go so well, but let's pretend these are different. ;)

Leona will never ask you out on a date out of free will. You have to be the one to tell him to do it! Why? Because for him to spend time with you in his room chilling and things like that are enough. Why take you to a restaurant if he can get someone to cook for you and bring you the food? Why take a walk in a park? Can't you guys just keep sleeping in his bed? So, the only way is if you annoy him enough.

“Herbivore! I'll pick you up at seven. Be ready.” he just told you, one day. You ask him where. “Didn't you want a date? So let's go out to dinner.” You smile but also raise an eyebrow, waiting for him to say a certain thing. “What? You were the one annoying me to go on a date and now you want me to pay too?”

“You were the one who invited me. And I don't know where we're going. Also you have more money than me by far.”

He sighs “Fine, fine, stop whining. I’ll pay.” He smirks “But you better behave. Oh, and make sure you wear something nice. They don't let anyone dressed sloppy in.” you look him up and down “For your information, I know better than you how to dress acceptable for some places.” he says with all his smugness. “You just need to dress a little formal, no need for fancy clothes.”

When you arrived at Ramshackle Dorm, there was a box waiting for you. You didn't need to look for clothes for the date, they were right there. When you open it, there were beautiful clothes, exactly the style you liked. Either a dress or a shirt and pants, depending on what you would prefer to receive. (He know, I don't) And matching shoes and accessories.

“I hope you don't make me for this.” you tell him when he arrives to pick you up. He smirks: “It's not the first time I've donated clothes to those most in need. Look at Ruggie.”

“I'm pretty sure these clothes don't fit you.”

“I never said I just donated my clothes. Now, are we going or not? We have time to be there, you know?”

It was a relatively expensive restaurant, with excellent cooks and food, beautiful decor, well dressed waiter. And Leona still insists on saying that he only did it so you would stop bothering him with a date? How stubbornly proud!

Tho, it was a different experience always be reminded that you were the date of the Prince of Sunset Savanna. The waiters sometimes treating him as "Prince Kingscholar" or even "your majesty". Every now and then you would notice people at other tables looking at the two of you and talking to each other.

“What?” he says when he notices your slight discomfort with the looks of others. “Don't tell me you're embarrassed to be dining with a prince.” He smirks, as always. “You know they're jealous of you, right?”

Despite the attention, dinner went very well. When it came time to pay, he didn't even look at the bill and simply paid with his card. And as you were leaving, he made sure to put his arm around your waist. To further instigate the murmur.

“You know” he says, with you two back in Ramshackle “when I pay for Ruggie's stuff, he reciprocates by doing some of my housework.” he lifts your cheese with one finger. “What are you going to do for this date?”

You can choose: do some of his housework like Ruggie OR grab Leona by the collar, kiss his lips and see where it leads and if in the end it's enough to pay off your "debt".

If he gets the opportunity, or waits for it, Jack will want to take you somewhere with snow. Since this is his natural habitat and this will allow him to have more ideas to make you happy.

If you like snowboarding or skiing: you'll have fun together, maybe even do some racing. If you're not too proud, he'll let you win a few times or try to finish the descent side by side with you.

If you don't know how to ski or snowboarding: he’ll happily offer to teach you. Do I need to say his tail is wagging like crazy? He is an extreme sports guy. But he'll go easy on you, respecting your time to learn. He is the type of tutor who will be proud of you for your efforts and progress. He just wants you to have fun, not to learn quickly.

If you get cold, he’ll always be ready to hug you or, in a critical case, give you his coat and take you somewhere warm. And that warm place could be a cafe with hot chocolate on the menu. Hot chocolate with marshmallow and whipped cream. Maybe those same marshmallows shaped as hearts, if the owner knows Jack and wants to mess with you two a little bit. If that happens he will blush.

When he notice, or you notice and point it out to him, that started snowing, he'll ask you if you’d like to go on a walk with him. Don't worry, it's not a hike, it's really just a stroll. He takes you to a park. The scenery was white and brown from the snow that covered the ground and the bare trees. If there is a lake, this one will be frozen over.

He’ll put one of his hands in his pocket, but the one next to you is out. And you two are very close to each other. You give him your hand and he reciprocates by intertwining his fingers with yours. He needs a few minutes to not turn completely red when he looks at you, like this next to him. He walks so that you are slightly ahead so his tail doesn't hit you as it swings.

The walk with Jack is pleasant, but maybe there will come a time when you want to make a snowman with him, for example. “Um? Really?” He does this with his younger siblings, but he still sees this as kind of a child's play. But if you show that you really want to do it, he will eventually give in to make you happy. And if you say you've never made one before, then he'll give in even faster.

After the two of you finish the snowman, you pretend to step back to enjoy the work you two did. And as soon as you find him distracted you throw him a snowball. “Oi!” he looks at you behind him. You laugh and he smirks. “Ha ha. So, you want to start a battle with a pro? I admire the courage!” Obviously he's not going to give it his all, he doesn't want to hurt you.

At some point you will hide behind some tree or bench. But when you get up again to throw him another snowball, you don't see him anymore. He appears behind you and hugs you trapping your arms. “Hey! That's cheating!” You say.

“According to my siblings all's fair in love and snowball war.” He tells you. All's fair in love, hum? He's not squeezing you too hard. So you manage to turn a little, your faces close enough for you to kiss his lips.

He was taken by surprise. And maybe that kiss won't last that long because you're in public. But when you go to a more private place...

Ruggie is broke. Probably as much as you. So he must have postponed your first date as long as he could until he could do something worthy of a date. And that is: a picnic. The only thing he has to pay for is food. One of the things he loves most. But he’ll still try to convince you to pay for half of the stuff. After all, the date is also yours.

He made the food. Because cooking is cheaper than buying ready-made food. Don't be surprised if when you meet him to go, he knows where, he has not one but two picnic baskets and asks you to carry one. He knows that he himself eats a lot, so he takes extra food to make sure there's enough food for both of you. Since he's not picky about food, to the point of eating anything, he only cooks things he knows you like. This way it will be good for both of you.

He will take you to a field surrounded by a sea of colourful flowers. If there are dandelions among the flowers, he’ll nibble on them. As soon as he finds a good spot that won't ruin any flowers he spreads out the picnic blanket and starts setting things up. Lucky for you he gave you a basket to carry. This way, you were able to slither inside a little something that you bought for him. But you'll leave that for later.

Despite how much he likes you, when he eats he only focuses on the food. So it's only in moments of break from eating that you two chat. As you two speak, he picks up one flower at a time and starts to intertwines them. You ask what he’s doing. “A Flower Crown. I used to make this to the neighborhood kids back in the slums. Do you want me to teach you how to make one?”

You end up making each other a Flower Crown while talking. Yours might be a little crooked if this is your first time making one. But he will love it anyway. You used a lot of dandelions to make his crown. And he used his favourite flowers and/or colours. The one he made for you was practically perfect.

“Don't be upset if I eat my crown. Shye hee hee.” He says seeing so many dandelions when you place the crown on his head. It ends up going around one ear, but it's not wide enough to go through the other. It's cute. He puts the one he made on your head. “Heh heh. Cute.” he comments. “Look who’s talking.” you answer.

“Are you still hungry?” you ask.

“What kind of question is that? I'm always hungry. The only thing able to make me full would be a banquet for three entire kingdoms. Shye hee hee.”

You put your hand inside the basket you carried and pull out a rectangular box. “Oh, I was just wondering when you were going to get me those donuts.” He says and you look at him. “Sorry, but you can't fool a beastman's nose. Awww, don't be sad. At least I waited until you took the box out.”

You open the box, still a little sad that you couldn't make it a surprise. He leans towards you, kisses your cheek affectionately and hugs you from the side, which was a trap in disguise. “Awww. The date was going so well. Don't be sad now. Come on... laugh with me.” De does not use his magic on you, instead he attacks you with tickles.

You, trying to escape his tickling, end up lying down and he lies down beside you. When he stops the tickling attack, this will be your opportunity to attack him with a kiss on his lips that are so close to yours.

(Storm Bringer) Accompanies Chuuya and sits next to him during the Flags' funeral. Sounded pleased when Chuuya said the PM was his family now. Chuuya's actual dad was also said to be a military doctor, which when combined with his mom and Kouyou also being very similar, should definitely be an intentional parallel.

(Dark Era) Mori wanted to teach Dazai another lesson in leadership on "necessary sacrifices" and "personal attachments vs decision making", it dramatically backfired, he is still disappointed to this day.

(Yosano backstory) Was protective of this little girl surrounded by army men, yet prioritized his grand plan to win the war over her emotional well-being.

(BEAST) When removed from the mafia, took over a shitty orphanage and made it good + offered emotional support to a lost teenager by LITERALLY offering to be his dad (+expressed his past will to save another lost teenager)

(also BEAST) Elise could be an adult, and yet she's always a child. That man is trying to fill in a hole in his life and when he got the orphanage he didn't need to do so anymore.

(Guild arc) Under the disguise of the local physician, he redirected Atsushi and taugh him one of his little lessons basically unprompted and Atsushi's impression of him as a mentor was very positive.

ANYWAY Mori has issues because he stuck himself between wanting to mentor the younger generation to help them grow into their potential and throwing everyone's emotions and desires (including his own) out the window in favour of the """optimal solution"""

➮ he's very much supportive just not as loud as march is, he does basically everything march does but in a more subtle manner like he's researching all night about your gender/sexuality to make sure he doesn't say anything insensitive or make a wrong assumption about your gender/sexuality, reading materials that contain your gender/sexuality so he can understand how you feel better, etc. he also asks you some of his questions directly but he doesn't really wanna bother you or come off as 'too much' so he got most of his knowledge from other sources

➮ while she might not fully understand what it's like in your shoes, she can try to sympathize with you and be the shoulder to cry on when you feel overwhelmed with your emotions or need to let those feelings out so they don't eat you up from the inside. sometimes just being by each other's side is enough of comfort, no words are needed, just the presence and the knowledge that someone is there for you at your lowest.

➮ like himeko, he'll be the listener to your yapping, might have a harder time keeping up with what you're saying sometimes if you're the type to talk really fast or jump from topic to topic but he'll still listen. he'll even surprise you by remembering the stuff you've said, even if you just mentioned it once, he still remembered it.

➮ he tries his best to give the best advice you need in your current situation, he tries not to sugarcoat his words and be as honest as he possibly can—though he can't guarantee he won't hurt your feelings, sometimes advice are words you NEED to hear and not what you WANT to hear.

How do you organise the process of creating a character? like, to me its too confusing, i dont know what i do first because there are TOO MANY THINGS TO DO, like backstory, personality, looks, what they like, so what would be the “steps” to make them?

(Since @isabellaswork asked the same thing recently I'm tagging you here, hope that's okay!) Omg I'm flattered I'm the person you'd wanna ask such a big question ;v;!!? Honestly the process is different for everyone, but I'll give it a go <3 This is how my process usually goes:

Personality first, backstory later. Flesh out the concept of the character before deciding their origin story if that makes sense.

Build a moodboard for your character! The more ideas the better!

Time for visuals! Sketch out multiple iterations, looking at the moodboard for inspiration. Colors go last.

Finalize! Once you've got your final sketch + colors, draw a proper illustration and see if you vibe with the design. Repeat previous steps if necessary <3

Extra: Since you've got the design and story down, add some fun facts. This is where interests, likes and dislikes go!

I'll use my VN characters as examples below in case someone wants it in more detail! Mychael (Mushroom Oasis) and Alma (Lift Your Spirits spoilers!! + horror imagery) process ideation under cut:

Usually I start with personality first. Because for me, when you first meet someone, you see what they're like in the present; their past doesn't matter as much until you get to know them. I can decide the backstory later so it doesn't limit the personalities I'm playing around with. Of course I must have gotten the idea from somewhere so these two things work in tandem most of the time.

Then it's just a matter of how they look!

After deciding on personality traits, I start by collecting references from everywhere, even the smallest of things. I think of how I want them to look plus how they would dress. Anything goes at this stage, so just go buck-wild gathering ideas!

Then it's time for drawing and doodles. As I sketch, I look back at the moodboard I've made and pick out things I like, while drawing things really loose. Copy paste if I need to!

This part takes the longest but is always the most fun! Don't feel limited by what you had initially, just test out ideas! Here are the final designs!

Then once I'm happy with the design I can flesh out the backstory as much as I like!!! so long as it fits the presentation of the character in current time. Of course this process can differ when you already have a story in mind and need characters to carry out the plot, but I'm definitely not big-brain enough to make an all-out story like that </3 I just enjoy designing characters visually haha

Oh and just for fun, I like to sprinkle in some extra (but kinda unnecessary) background info. It can be the most mundane thing but it gives them more life (to me at least!) Maybe they drink flat orange soda, or enjoy riding trains at night, or hate the smell of french fries, or think apples are disgusting etcetcetc.

Of course there's like, tips for professional character designing like silhouette, shapes, proportions but I assume this ask was for a more casual approach <3 That's all I could think of if I were to describe my process,,, I hope that answers your question!

To recap:

Start with personality traits and decide backstory later. Or work them together as one. It's more concept than visuals at this stage.

Assemble a moodboard for inspiration. The more ideas the better! Look up anything that might relate to your character if it helps.

Sketch, sketch and sketch again! Keep things loose and free. I usually start from the face, to clothes to accessories. Colors go last.

Finalize! Put everything together in one rendered drawing, and see if you vibe with it. You can always go back to previous steps if you're still not happy with it.

And you're done! :-)

ok so I made my plans about somehow making some sort of Hamlet AU out of ATLA clear before I even began watching the show, but what I didn’t anticipate, was how easy the show was going to make it for me.

I don’t know if I have to tag atla spoilers because the show came out in 2005? but erm spoilers I suppose. to be completely honest i’m only on S3 E13 so this is subject to change, just throwing out ideas rn

Like there’s literally conspiracy leading to murder (apparently even poisoning, i’m not sure of the specifics) of the current head of power in order to gain control of the throne RIGHT THERE IN THE SHOW. It’s almost too easy. The only thing that could possibly make it easier would be if Iroh’s son were still alive and they’d gone for an already ascended Iroh instead of grandpappy Azulon. But even still.

So the story as far as I could see it would have it play out in a similar way to the actual show, with Ozai murdering Azulon for the throne. Considering the Danish throne in Hamlet is an elective one, if we opt for that side of things, Ozai would win public favour due to Iroh being in no condition to lead. Alternatively, we could just stick to canon, considering Ozai ends up with the throne either way.

I think the biggest changes that immediately arise are:

- Zuko’s probably not thaaat sad about Azulon. Which is fine. Rather than this revenge tragedy being about a fall from grace, it’s almost more a tragic inevitably. Zuko doesn’t start off as down in the dumps but that’s okay, because in terms of how far down he has to go morally, he’s still got a big headstart

- Zuko’s probably less annoyed at both his parents. This is a timeline in which Zuko was never sent to capture the Avatar to restore his honour, which means it’s quite possible the infamous Agni Kai never happened at all. Regardless, I will find some way to work his iconic scar into the story, whether that be beforehand, during his capture and send off in Act 4, or the final duel in Act 5. I will, however, have to find some reason for him to be slightly more annoyed at his father than in the original story (where the disapproval of his father just made him more desperate). Perhaps this time he fought back in the Agni Kai, and while still emerging scarred, was not exiled. Maybe he never spoke out at all, and simply disapproves of his father’s blatant favouritism of his sister. I may discuss this later on, but the key point is that he needs to be believably motivated to kill his own father, which he was not originally.

- Also, Zuko’s probably not that pissed at his mother for committing incest because… she didn’t really do that. Whatsoever. He’ll probably end up pissed at her eventually for sticking with his father or even in finding out her accessory to the crime (although perhaps holding off from the same revenge if her motives were different to Ozai’s), but the point is that there’ll be a removed layer of depth in terms of their relationship in comparison to the original. So no misogynistic Zuko, which while it might be a nay for story detail, is a yay for feminism.

Anyway, so the story starts off the same as usual, probably around the spring of the original series. There’s also a good chance that I’ll get Azulon’s whole poisoning deal to happen a little closer to the actual series, purely for pacing’s sake. Anyway, Firelord Ozai is again blatantly favouring his daughter over his crown prince son, and Azusa asks if she can go back to the Earth Kingdom to continue taking over it, which Ozai agrees to. So Zuko’s left alone in the castle to wander with his thoughts.

The second big set of problems that arise are that Zuko doesn’t have very many friends. Which is a bit of an issue in terms of figuring out a Horatio, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. I’ve got Mai down for Ophelia, so there’s a good chance by process of elimination that Ty Lee’s going to end up as Rosencrantz. Either way, for now, we’ll just leave that basket case alone and talk about when he gets on the roof to talk to ghosts.

Anyway, so yada yada yada, Zuko gets sent to talk to a spirit that looks like his late grandfather. Spirit shows up, claims to be the guy, and asks Zuko to avenge him. He spares no detail to the crown prince about his bloody murder, the vicious betrayal that took his life, and claims it brought dishonour upon Ozai’s family line. He tells Zuko that Ozai is already past the point of no return, but as the crown prince and the next firelord, Azulon says there is still a chance for his own redemption. If Zuko wants to redeem himself in order to claim his rightful place on the throne, he must avenge Azulon, and restore his honour.

If we want to use Ozai’s favouritism towards Azula as a way to turn Zuko against him, Ozai can also mention how it was his, and then Iroh’s destiny to ascend to the throne and take the mantle of the firelord. But clearly, Ozai has no problem going against fate in order to change who the throne is going to. It may be Zuko’s destiny now, but again, if Ozai did it once, he might do it again. Azula is a better fit, and if Zuko doesn’t take care of him first, Ozai might be tempted to take things into his own hands again.

Anyway, the point is Zuko’s head gets filled with all the restore-his-honour stuff about avenging his grandfather for the throne. But he knows that spirits aren’t always what they seem, and also this is like, his dad, so he’s a little hesitant at first. And naturally, his first thought is that he needs to gather information, so he puts on a little bit of an antic disposition.

Now it should be said, for all intents and purposes, I see no reason why the Avatar storyline couldn’t be more or less going on in the background. A couple of changes, yes, but it’s not like we’re strangers to those at this point. The point is, instead of Fortinbras, the ever impending doom on the Fire Nation will be the Avatar or something.

Mai, whom Zuko has been dating a little more closely due to not being on a ship in the South Pole somewhere, notices that he’s been acting a little strange. Iroh, who’s still hanging around the palace, wonders if it’s possibly the symptoms of love sickness, and decides to investigate. He talks to Zuko, but the prince, not having spent a large amount of time in close proximity to his uncle and his mysterious proverbs and therefore without the same affections for him, dismisses his words and misreads his uncle as a doddering old man.

Ty Lee (or whomever) also get sent to spy on him, but Zuko (having grown up with Azula for a sister), is paranoid, and catches on straight away. She brings him news of a troupe of travelling actors, whom she met during her tour with the circus, who are in town, and Zuko hatches a plan.

Meanwhile, Iroh and Ursa try again to see if Zuko has been bit by the love bug by sending Mai in to talk to him personally, to return his gifts (as he’s been sort of slacking in the boyfriend department recently) and to see how he reacts. As they spy, they catch him pondering aloud to himself. Instead of ‘to be or not to be’, a thoughtful soliloquy on life, death, and the question of why doesn’t everybody just kill themselves, Zuko wonders aloud about honour, destiny, and balance. How they tie into one another, what fate has in store for him, why he should have so much compared to the average man. What destiny means if it can be so easily changed and imposed. Where honour comes from, who decides how it is earned. And mostly, about the concept of balance, in the royal family, in the Four Nations and the hundred year war, in the Avatar and what he represents, and in himself. It’s super deep and thoughtful, and I’m not writing any of it down.

Anyway, and then Mai comes in, and Zuko, all hopped up on paranoia and daddy and sister issues and people being sent to spy on him, accuses her of not loving him and going behind his back. He totally yells at her a bunch about it, and Ursa and Iroh are left with the realisation that whatever he’s being plagued by, it’s not love.

The actors then come and perform a rendition (on Zuko’s command) of the events leading to and of Azulon’s demise and it… leaves much to be desired. Regardless, it gets the job done, and Ozai runs away.

Zuko finds him somewhere, and has the opportunity to kill him, and you can tell this is one of the bits that I haven’t quite figured out just yet, but for whatever reason doesn’t because it wouldn’t be honourable, or something.

Ursa calls Zuko into her chambers, worried about him, and Zuko snaps at her, yelling at her for supporting Ozai and her part in the conspiracy. She calls for help, and someone behind the curtain calls for help, and Zuko realises he’s being spied on. Without thinking very hard about it, he assumes it’s Ozai, and slices up the arras. Ursa freaks out, and Zuko freaks out too, but upon inspection of the body, it turns out instead of killing his treacherous father Ozai, he’s accidentally just gone and killed beloved Uncle Iroh.

And I know what you must be thinking. ‘Blasphemy! Iroh can’t be killed. He’s way too cool.’ and while I’d agree under normal circumstances, this actually serves as a really good point of no return for Zuko that parallels that of the original play, because this is where the nail gets hammered in that this really isn’t our Zuko anymore. This Zuko didn’t spend three years alongside a good influence that would eventually lead him to go down a better path, this Zuko continued to grow up in Fire Nation walls. And even with the pre-existing compassion and capacity to change for the better in his heart, the one person who would have seen it come to fruition is now dead. This is a turning point that symbolises that whatever person Zuko could have become, the one he did in the original series, is now forever lost.

Anyway, so after yelling at and then crying with his mother for a bit (despite everything, he was still always her favourite. which isn’t hard when Azula’s your other child), and then seeing some more spirit action, and then crying some more, Zuko hides the body and runs. He doesn’t get very far, as he’s captured and taken to Ozai, who’s furious with him. Zuko refuses to answer any of his questions in a straight manner, and is sent off to the colonies to ‘cool down’. He is to be assisted by Ty Lee, and potentially co.

On his way out from the Fire Nation, Zuko spots a gathering of Water Tribe and various Earth Kingdom ships, and reasons that the Avatar must be planning to invade the Fire Nation at some point. He examines the likelihood of it working, and what he’s clearly willing to risk.

Later on, during the boat ride, unable to sleep, Zuko sneaks into Ty Lee’s cabin and steals the letter she’s been entrusted to give the militia in charge of the colony they’re headed to upon their arrival. He opens and reads it, and to his shock, it’s an order to carry out his immediate execution upon their receiving of the letter. He finds the necessary materials, and forges a second letter that instead orders the deaths of the bearers of the letter, and seals it with the signet ring of the Fire Nation royalty. Hours later, the ship is attacked by pirates and Zuko escapes onto their vessel, capturing it and directing it back towards the Fire Nation.

Azula comes back from the Earth Kingdom to find Iroh dead, her brother missing, and Mai with her mind on the edge. She’s annoyed at Zuko for reducing her friend to this state, and even more so when Mai ends up losing herself to it. So when Ozai recieves a message from his son announcing his return and suggests to Azula that they get revenge on her brother, she’s more than happy to help out.

Zuko arrives back in the Fire Nation, and during his trek back to the castle, upon seeing the graves being dug for the Fire Nation soldiers lost to the war, ponders again about the nature of balance and honour, this time in a classic life/death way. He has a frustrating conversation with a particularly witty gravedigger, and then spies a funeral taking place. He notices members of his family there, and realising it’s for Mai, crashes the funeral, and jumps into her grave. Azula jumps after him, and the two begin to fight as the accuse the other of not loving Mai enough. They’re pried apart, and Ozai reminds Azula to save her energy for their duel.

Zuko is invited to a duel, and in my mind this can go one of two ways:

- Either it’s the classic Agni Kai, which Zuko challenges Azula to during the fight in the graveyard, and she readily accepts, scheduling it for the day after, or

- Zuko is inviting to a sword fighting duel with his sister during the eclipse, which he readily accepts, as he’s willing to show off in the one field he might be able to properly beat her in.

If the sword fight route is taken, it happens much in the same way as the original play, with the poisoned blade and cup. Both get poisoned in the exchange of swords, Zuko takes the opportunity to finish his father, and they all pretty much end up dying during the eclipse.

If the Agni Kai route is taken, it happens right before the eclipse, and the poisoned cup is prepared again just in case (which Ursa ends up drinking). The fatal move ends up happening when Azula shoots lighting at Zuko, who redirects it, but doesn’t let the energy travel in the proper direction and instead lets it travel through his heart (due to him never being taught in this timeline), leading to him managing to redirect it back at his sister, wounding her fatally, but also stopping his heart in the process. When Azula is happy to reveal Ozai’s involvement due to her bitterness at her own impending demise, Ozai tries to stop Zuko, but the eclipse has just started, and Zuko uses his swords again to finish off the job before succumbing.

As this does happen during the eclipse, moments after the royal family dies, the Avatar and the ground force invasion team take the castle, arriving to the dismal sight. With the Firelord out of the way, the tide of the war is easily turned and it finds a peaceful ending at the hands of the Avatar.

In this timeline, the Avatar never really knew Zuko, but with the knowledge of his lineage, wonders if there was ever a world in which they were friends. He considers as well, how despite Zuko’s actions being largely violent, negative, and a product of his Fire Nation upbringing, they ended up bringing good, peace, and light to the world in the greater picture of things. Zuko’s destiny seemed to be determined by his heritage: his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. But just as much as one side had an effect on his destiny and where the prince would end up, the other side would have one just as great.

Zuko would live and die by the law and nature of the Fire Nation, but he would also be the one to bring balance to the world.

First Date - Pomefiore

There were so many possibilities and at the same time so few. So many because he could take you anywhere. With Vil’s fame and influence, he can open many doors for you both. But so few because, with that same fame, you would have much less privacy in public places. Not just paparazzi, but those inconvenient fans interrupting you and a lot of eyes turned your way.

However, he does know of a few restaurants with private rooms for those willing to pay extra for some peace and quiet. Oh, darling, don't worry. He is very aware of your financial difficulties, that's why he will pay for everything. Of course with that, the least you have to do is your best in your presentation and manners.

What? You think you don't have good enough clothes for a date at that restaurant? Well, let's take a look at your wardrobe, shall we. Oh gosh, you're right! You definitely need new clothes! Come, you and Vil are going shopping urgently. Why? Because he already made a reservation at the restaurant for the following night. Waiting list? For Vil Schoenheit? Oh love, your innocence is so cute sometimes.

Money? “You don't feel it's fair that I pay for everything, do you?” He says when you come back to talking about you not having money for clothes from the stores he wants to take you to. “I'm glad, actually. That shows your character.” He smiles “But then again, I'm the one inviting you. I could have chosen an alternative, dinner in Pomefiore or something on campus, but that wouldn't have been worthy! Yes, worthy. That wouldn't have been worthy to be our first date. And again, don't worry about the money. A tenth of what I get for playing the villain in a single film is more than enough to pay for all this. But... on second thought...” He smirks at you “if this is an incentive for you to strive to look and behave your best, you can still feel like you owe me something.”

He’ll recommend clothes based on what will best show your personality, what fits your tastes, the colours that best match your skin tone, etc. The same applies to accessories and shoes. You're not going in trainers, are you? By the way, Vil can pay for things, but you're the one carrying the bags.

On the night of the dinner, he'll ask Rook to help you with your hair and make-up, even if you don't wear much. We both know he'll not shut-up about you and Vil. But on the bright side, his words are a boost in your confidence.

Did you think he would be one of those celebrities who hide in baggy clothes, a hoodie and sunglasses? On your first date? No, he's going to look his best for him and you. The same way you should look your best for yourself and him. He wants you to look your best so people can see why he's with you. Not just anyone can go on a date with Vil Schoenheit. And I'm not talking about appearances, but about showing your inside through the outside.

He found a way to enter the restaurant as quietly as possible and head to the private room. Despite everyone who was around look at the two of you indiscreetly and immediately wide-eyed. You were wearing the same perfume made by Vil himself. Which alerted the noses of anyone who wasn't already looking.

In the beautiful room you were alone, not counting the times when an employee came in to serve you. You notice that he is wearing the same lipstick as you. Why would it be? “For two main reasons, my sweet spudling. First, because it was the best choice for this outfit. And second...” He lifts your chin with his index finger, running his thumb lightly across your bottom lip. “for when we kiss, we don't ruin each other's lipstick.

Epel knows very well where he DOESN'T want to take you: Pomefiore. Nope! But luckily he also knows very well where he WANTS to take you: Harveston, his home town. But this time it's just the two of you. Away from Vil's judgemental look and comments. And every other student.

However, despite the fact that he knows perfectly well where to take you and what you can do together, he is extremely nervous. Not just because everyone knows him there and many can still remember you and tease you two a little. Especially his grandma if he tells her the real reason why you're there with him. But also because of his own insecurities. He knows everyone thinks he's cute, that you think he's cute, but he doesn't want you to see him like that, especially on a date. But at the same time, if you wanted to go on a date with him it's because you like him the way he is, right? He will often be conflicted between continuing to be who he is or trying to impress you.

You've been there in winter and he'd like to take you at another time of the year so you can see another side of the small town. Luckily, your date turned out to be during Spring. Perfect! And what better way to get around in spring than by bike? He'll get his bike and get you one. Perhaps his grandma offers you an old bike of hers that is still in excellent condition.

Both bikes have baskets so he asks you to carry a picnic blanket in your basket while he carries the picnic basket in his bike basket. He'd like to make it a surprise, but it's hard, so the surprise will have to be the place and the food.

It is an incredibly pleasant ride. There is plenty of space for you as practically no cars pass through these dirt roads, so you can ride freely. Green fields full of blossoming apple trees under a blue sky are your whole landscape. Some trees have completely snow-white flowers, others pink flowers, and still others in between those two colours.

As you have plenty of space for the two of you and long beautiful paths, he will try to pedal alongside you. Always slightly ahead of you to show the way. He might ask if you're enjoying the ride, but your smile says it all.

You will stop at one of the apple orchards and walk through the trees. If you ask Epel if you are not entering private property, he will say yes, but that he knows the owners and had already asked permission for the two of you to be there. He spreads out the blanket on the grass between two rows of blossoming apple trees. Some of the fallen flowers dot the ground.

He didn't do anything too elaborate. Some sandwiches, a little pie or two and, of course, apples. However, the holes in the pies were heart-shaped, as was the cut of the sandwiches. He handed them to you with a smile, but also a blush. And you two would chat while eating and he would carving some apples for you. He carved one like a pattern of hearts, another like a rose, another like a swan, and even one with Grim's head.

It's practically impossible not to find him cute after all that. But not in the way he thinks, it's a different kind of cute that you feel but don't know how to explain. And it's while you're thinking about it and looking at your hands, admiring one of the apples he carved for you, that you feel a gentle kiss on your cheek. When you look at him in surprise, you see a mixture of confidence and hesitation on his face, this second because he's worried that you didn't like what he just did. But when he sees your smile, the hesitation disappears and he moves even closer to you...

MERVEILLEUX! Oh! The day is coming. Your first date. But what to do? There are so many possibilities and all merveilleux! But Rook can only choose one, and he chose: a date at the theatre. To see what play? “The Princess and the Huntsman”, a beautiful story of a forbidden love. He says it's based on a story or rumor about the Fairest Queen's stepdaughter.

Nowadays, you don't need to wear a fancy suit or dress to watch a play. But this is still a date with Rook, so you strive to be at your best for that. “Absolument magnifique~” are the first words out of his mouth when he sees you. He went to picked you up. “You are stunning! I feel so lucky to have the privilege of being next to such beauty.” He will continue to remind you how beautiful you are until you reach the theatre. He loves to see you trying to hide your blush.

During the play you do not speak. Both are focused on stage, or at least most of your attention is there. The other small part of your attention is in the hands. That's because, especially in the more romantic parts, he slides his hand to caress yours.

After the play, if you allow it, you will leave the theatre hand in hand, and talk about what you thought of the play as he takes you to a restaurant for dinner. A beautiful one, with a lot of your favourite foods. You hesitate to discreetly ask him if this is an expensive restaurant. But when you do, he laughs “Ah, mon cher, there's no need for you to worry about that. I'll be more than happy to pay for everything to let you rest easy. Let it be my present for you.”

If you say that you don't have a present for him to thank for dinner, he will reply: “Oh, Trickster, your thoughtfulness and concern are undoubtedly beautiful! But there will be no need for that. Tonight with you was such a magnificent gift that even the price of the most expensive of dishes could not compare. Let me at least treat you that, Trickster.”

Whatever you order to eat, he will order exactly the same. He wants to taste what you taste, understand your tastes to understand and learn more about you. A person's culinary tastes can say a lot about themselves, and he wants to hear every syllable about it. He can't help but watch you as he eats too. Every movement, the way you hold the cutlery, the way you bring the food to your mouth, the way you react to each ingredient. And no matter how good you are at noticing that the person in front of you is looking at you, he is much better at hiding it.

Unless he purposely lets himself be caught looking at you. “I’m sorry mon cher, but you know how hard it is for me not to behold the beauty that I have before my eyes. Please, don't put me through the torture of hiding it.” He’s looking at you with the most enchanted eyes you have ever seen, not blushing is impossible. He loves doing this to you.

If you allow him, he will slide his hand across the table to hold and caress yours while you chat. And slide his foot under the table to touch yours. Sometimes art shouldn't be touched, but when you allow it and that's his way of showing appreciation for you, he'll keep going until you stop him.

It is when you are returning home, or to the dorms, that perhaps you can no longer bear to hear Rook's compliments without reciprocating with a kiss. The best kiss you can give him is one that shuts him up mid-sentence. It's the closest you can get to surprising him. And if it's a short kiss, he'll grab you by the waist, lay you in his arms and kiss you with the greatest passion he feels for you.

Hello! I recently found you through your Yandere frieza, and I loved it!

I wanted to ask, if it is part of the request that you're alright in doing, could you do a Yandere Platonic Cold Family (which include of Frieza, Cooler, and King Cold) headcanons or scenario?

I can't decide that maybe the reader could even be saiyan to make it more dramatic or human? It's your choice. Also, you can choose if the reader is an adult or maybe a child or one of each version?

how would they behave if you were a Saiyan?

Cooler would be slightly cautious, he knows the damage Saiyans can cause. Sure they tend to be hot headed, but they can be a deadly opponent. With what seems to be an never ending power, that comes with emotions. He'd had someone else cut your tail off, and then comfort you for the next period, carefully stroking skin, whispering in your ear that he'll kill them, and brutally torture them for what they did to his child. He'd then blame it on an enemy of his, and use it as a reason to kill them. In the end you wouldn't know that, he was the one that ordered for your tail to be cut off. Or that the person he killed wasn't really the one that took your tail.

King Cold You were so young, having been given to the Family for more of a status. a little guard dog. Of course you were just a tool, but King Cold, knows how to look after his tools. You are no exception. He can't have you broken now can he? exactly. if his tool is broken then that's no good. a servant, a guard dog, a punisher. all roles you would of had until it mysteriously stopped. Wonder why?

Frieza: Frieza isn't someone you want to make annoyed, he'd consider you a pet. You are nothing more then a pet to him, you're just an endagered pet. or an exotic, this isn't even romantic. He quite literally considers you like a dog or hamster. cute, something to look after.

what if you were actually related to them?

Cooler probably raised you. or raised you for a good part of your life. Despite being your older brother, he'd most likely of had to of been a primary or secondary father figure that raised you. Besides from the servants, and maids that would of played a large part in your life, it would of also been Cooler. this would cause him, to eventually, start to actual love you. Like how a father would love there child. He'd become more overprotective.

King Cold- King Cold Sometimes i feel like his kids are accessories. Yeah sure he loves them, But there extensions of him. an Accessory. What do you do with Accessories? you flaunt them. You are certainly no exception. You'd need to be one of these things. Powerful, smart, Beautiful or influence. If you aren't powerful then that's fine. You can be used for other things. As his youngest, You won't be as well known as Frieza and Cooler, so you probably wouldn't have that much influence. So that leave's two things smarts and Beauty. By smarts, this refers to Battle IQ and deception. If you have this, you'll be more favoured by the more battles you win. What if you don't have any of these besides from beauty? ( Because you're beautiful) Simple. He'd marry you off (in the beginning), What's the point in keeping you around if you can't bring anything to the table? He loves you of course, you're daddy's Prince/Princess, but It's dangerous. So He'll find you a suitable husband, for a political marriage. Spoilers for the blue eyed samurai, in the brackets! (I believe it would have to be something like Akemi and her Father, Where the Akemi pleads with her father that she's scared, that she wants someone like him, and Manipulates him to some degree. in order to avoid marrying for a while? It would be like that reader and King Cold, making King Cold Sympathetic. Of course he'd have to figure out the perfect man, for his baby) Within time, King Cold wouldn't allow other's near his Baby as they aren't as worthy. Congratulations. you've bought some time.

Frieza- Can't see him caring about you much in the beginning, a pest. another person to get in his way, Though you don't seem to be that powerful, so he could simply put you in your place. perhaps, being thrown in the wall will put you in your place? Or perhaps he should wrap his Tail around your neck. Maybe that will get the brain cells working once more. Like the other family member's the more, he looks after you; Is around you he'll start to feel something that may be love (however he wont admit it)

Ugh. So many.

My problem (and part of the reason some updates took so long) is that I do come up with a lot of ideas while writing, and sometimes the best way to judge the merit of an idea is just to write it out? Sometimes it feels like I'm only publishing about 50% of what I actually write, because the rest gets discarded... but (spoilers for the last chapter of BBN under the cut):

- There's a discarded version that didn't include Sheik at all. Impa took Link through the ruins of Kakariko herself (which incidentally involved Link riding a horse, which was... something 🤣), then betrayed him at the Gate by handing him over to Zelda. That version was rough, actually—rereading it a couple weeks ago, I'd forgotten that Impa actually gagged Link the moment he went through to keep him from rescinding the limiting orders on Ghirahim she'd forced him to make :/ In the end, I didn't like how it distanced Zelda from the story and gave her a sort of manipulative puppetmaster persona, and I thought she'd rather get a look at the situation herself before doing anything so drastic. I started wondering what she might do to disguise her presence... and Sheik happened :)

- I think I've mentioned before that Zelda was present to various degrees during the second-to-last chapter while Ghirahim was busy reenacting A Whole New World, but in the end I removed her almost entirely. That part of the story was really more about Link and Ghirahim, and in that instance she was getting in the way :')

- There are SEVERAL versions of the last chapter floating in my Google docs, including one (much shorter) version where the sword didn't break at all, and one where the sword shattered and Zelda wasn't able to fix it entirely. Only Ghirahim’s diamond was restored, which brought Ghirahim back, but left them in the position of needing to reforge his sword.

There were elements of the second scenario that I liked? I kind of liked the idea that Ghirahim could theoretically have a hand in determining the final shape of his sword that way, and I liked how it forced him to grapple with his value as an individual outside of his utility as a sword. Link was just as happy in that version, by the way, because obviously he cared more about getting Ghirahim back... but something about that ending didn't really feel satisfying to me? In the end, I liked the idea that the flames had forged him for his own use too much, and given that the flames were already changing the sword to be "more like himself than he'd ever thought possible," I didnt want to mess with the ongoing theme of divine affirmation of the self :') I also liked how Ghirahim having two swords let him actually enjoy the fact that he was made for himself and not as an accessory to anyone else, while also allowing him to share that part of himself if he chose... so that's why it ended the way it did.

- lmao ALSO I had Link basically collapsing a few steps out of the portal at first as a way to fit the Groose scene in while he was half asleep, but THEN I would have had to write Link waking up. And I have had to write Link waking up SO many times over the course of this fic that I just couldn't bring myself to do it again... hence the insomnia XD which led to actually my favorite scene in the whole chapter where Link asks for help sleeping, so hooray!

Was trawling back through my AO3 history and I started deleting deleted fics, which reduced the page count by like, 20 before I’d even gotten a 200 pages back from the oldest entries, so this is your reminder to check out and regularly use @nianeyna‘s ao3 downloader!!

(all gods bless you for sharing that, for serious, especially the pinboard functionality as apparently I AM a fandom dinosaur which is hilarious and somewhat inspirational at the same time)

(I am having some difficulties now finding and downloading the stuff I missed because it isn’t bookmarked on Pinboard from the AO3, only from LJ or whatever, which is why I started trawling my history in the first place and huh it looks like for the first few years I only left kudos when my head had been practically blown off, unlike my current categorizing system of ‘seen - tried, didn’t like’, ‘kudosed - read, liked’, ‘pinned to pinboard - read, liked enough to re-read’, ‘bookmarked on ao3 - read and holy shit i need a quick link to this fucker so i can read it again immediately on demand, and/or oh hey! series!’)

D&D as Disability Metaphor

N.B. Most of the ideas herein about spell slots/cantrips and mana/health points were sourced from various tumblr posts; please reblog with links if you have them! Also reblog with additional links to those tumblr posts about forks and knives!

In this metaphor, YOU are a D&D/RPG character!

Your CHARACTER BUILD reflects your strengths and weaknesses. 

First: you have your basic STATS – INT, CON, WIS, DEX, STR, CHA – these are primarily determined by your baseline nature and your early nurture. (e.g., you may be born with a certain facility for learning, a natural sense of balance, perfect pitch, etc., or you may have spent much of your life playing sports and building strength and dexterity, or have been forced by circumstance to become Very Good at identifying people’s true motives and/or playing the part you need to play in any given situation, etc.)

Secondly: You have your basic ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES. These are primarily determined by your baseline nature but can be affected by nurture and change over time just as you do! 

For example, you may be vision impaired – any task requiring good vision will have you at a natural disadvantage that can be mitigated by the use of an accessory or tool. So long as you have your accommodation, your natural disadvantage is entirely or partially nullified – instead of a negative 3 to skill checks involving vision, you might have a modifier of only negative 1 or even zero!

Another example: 

You might be autistic or have other sensory processing issues that mean certain textures are ILLEGAL ��� any time you’re required to interact with that texture, you have to roll a WIS save to see how it impacts you. 

On a bad day (in the metaphor, you roll a 1), you might be completely incapacitated for a time. On a good day, you might be able to use a positive modifier from a learned skill like DISTRESS TOLERANCE or DISENAGE to overcome the badness and only be partially incapacitated, or maybe not even incapacitated at all, just inflicted with a DEBUFF of some kind for a period of time. (This gives you a negative modifier for future skill checks and saving throws until the debuff expires or you take a LONG REST.)

On any given day, your disability (physical, mental, developmental, etc.) may give you a GENERAL DEBUFF that affects your skill checks and saving throws. 

For example, if you have bipolar disorder and are in a depressive episode, you might have a negative 1 modifier to any social interaction, even if ‘normally’ you have a plus 3. 

Or you might have chronic migraines and be having a debilitating headache that actually precludes the use of some skills/spells/actions at all – you might be incapable of leaving a dark room or of using your computer/phone.

Thirdly: In general, you can think of your overall capability to COPE as mana points, stamina points, spell slots, or anything similar. SPELL SLOTS is the easiest metaphor, just because of how the magic system is structured.

You have a given number of SPELL SLOTS on any single day, although a DEBUFF might reduce your baseline of slots for the day or a BUFF might actually give you an extra one! These spell slots correspond to the energy needed to perform various activities/tasks. The more difficult the task, the higher level of spell slot is required. BUT! If you’ve already used your third level spell slot for the day and need to “cast” another third level spell (another difficult activity), you can sacrifice multiple lower level spell slots in order to do so, with the disadvantage of having fewer slots left until your next LONG REST.

Some activities don’t drain you at all and can be done at any time (in this metaphor, they can be considered CANTRIPS). Some might even return used spell slots! (Think of this as taking a SHORT REST.) CANTRIPS are typically less effort or are of such benefit that they cancel out the level of effort required. They vary wildly based on the individual. An example for one person might be listening to an audiobook or taking a hot shower, while a different person might consider both of those first level spells.

Finally: The final part of this metaphor switches genres a little bit, so bear with me. This doesn’t tend to happen in the most well-known tabletop RPGs, but you’ve probably seen it in other popular media. Sometimes, you’re completely out of spell slots / mana / stamina, but you’ve got something you absolutely HAVE to do – either because it’s a necessity for your survival, or because you simply care about the thing so much that you’re willing to borrow against your future self.

In this kind of situation, you can ‘borrow’ spell slots from your future self (meaning you use it now, and therefore don’t have it available to use the next day), or you might start using your own health points in place of the missing mana. 

Think about in fantasy media, when the magic user runs out of magic in the FINAL BATTLE and starts sacrificing their own life force to continue powering the spell. In some circumstances, they might drain themselves so completely that they can never use magic again, or it takes them years to recover. Similarly, a person with CFS who pushes themselves too hard one day might end up bedbound for days, weeks, or even months following. 

Another example: 

Someone with a torn ACL who stresses it during the healing process might find that it never heals completely/properly, permanently affecting their athletic ability.

TL;DR – D&D is actually a great extended metaphor for both short-term and long-term disabilities and how they impact a person’s life! 

But it does. Uh. Require some background in RPG terms and tropes in order to fully understand it. If the person you’re trying to explain the concepts to is completely unfamiliar with RPGs, you may be better off with sticking with something more basic like Spoon* Theory (or the Unified Cutlery** Theory).

Just binge-read the “My Aunt Is a Monster” graphic novel by Reimena Yee and it is one of my new favourite graphic novels omg

Like not only is the art (especially the colouring) INCREDIBLE but the story is so good to?? The phrasing/storytelling makes it clear with there is some unreliable narration at times, so before you finish chapter 1 you could be led to believe that it’s like “oh maybe the aunt isn’t really a monster, it’s just because the girl telling the story is blind” BUT NO they make it very clear by mid-chapter 1 that the aunt is, in fact, actually a monster. (The cover makes it obvious, but ofc it could just be misleading.)

I guess this is sort of spoilers, but I’m pleasantly surprised that there wasn’t a twist that there was no magic and everything was real (in-universe). In the forward, the author does thank blind/visually impaired people & their allies for making the world more accessible to the former, so I think it’s great that the main character (Safia)’s disability isn’t used as an explanation of sorts on how the magic is happening

And then there are different POVs too omg I love how they show the different perspectives AND ALSO LITTLE HINTS/FORESHADOWING!! Or a callback technically but I’ll discuss that under the cut.

Side note, I gotta try some dondurma sometime…

!! SPOILERS ahead !!

Just a couple mild spoilers first, Aunt Whimsy is cursed to be a Makara which is a nice way of including some Hindu culture! (The author mentions in their biography that they like to include irl cultures in their work, so props to them!)

Tbh I felt like the ending of the ancient city was a little rushed, though. We’re told that the “scourge” has been released and that they need to go inside somewhere to protect “Paradise,” but then cut to the next scene and they’re outside of the place and there’s no explanation as to how that fits with the ending/epilogue. I understand this is most likely a setup for a sequel, but like, the end and epilogue don’t make it seem important if that’s the case. Other than Hebe having a Makara hand now, though honestly that could just be something she has to live with and left ambiguous.

But MAN can Reimena Yee draw some nice fire omg, any time Aunt Whimsy is in her full Makara form, the colours/line art are so cool!! I’m biased because my favourite graphic novels are in similar styles lol but either way, very neat that certain special pages have coloured Lineart instead of black.

ANYWAY I love callbacks and so in this book, my fav callback is the Bureau of Suspicious Intent’s logo being an apple. This is my favourite kind of callback too, where it’s technically a Chekov’s Gun but the writing makes it seem more like foreshadowing (because the callback itself is a build up rather than just the payoff)!

Idk if they establish that Ms. Cathryn bakes apple pies before they reveal she’s ex-Bureau (since they mention it after), but if they do, then that’s the first lil breadcrumb

Yee also shows a gold apple on Hebe’s journal/notes when she’s first introduced, but tbh I didn’t recognize it as an apple because of the style/size lol it was kinda just a blob

Then they introduce the Bureau with the gold apple logo but make no mention of it!! So it’s a callback that works only in a graphic novel since it’s a visual thing!!

so on the cruise ship, you can start to catch onto the ploy about to happen just because there is a suspicious amount of people wearing gold [apple] accessories… 👀 *squints eyes*

ALSO the other great callback is Lord Fauntleroy being a stowaway on the ship/adventure! I think his is a good example of the more overt Chekov’s Gun where they make a note several times that he sheds and call it out again when Hebe gets allergies (without explicitly saying he tagged along)! You can infer pretty easily what’s gonna happen since there’s a panel where they mention leaving Fauntleroy outside yet the taxi driver notices the fur, but it’s nice that it isn’t really mentioned until Hebe’s allergies (since, realistically, the characters would not think Lord Fauntleroy is there).

Anyway I love books and have been on a graphic novel binge 😍 hoping one day I can make one myself or use it to practice visdev work!!

Year: 2022

I took a deep breath the moment I stepped out of the OR. It has been 6 hours since the last time I sat down, my feet were throbbing at this point. I ripped off my mask and walked to the locker room to check my phone. As I was pushing the door, I deeply hoped that it was alone. 

After a 6 hour surgery, during a 28 hour shift, I wasn’t in the mood to speak to anyone, let alone see anyone. But yet, the universe or God wanted to test me tonight. I walk in and see Alice, another fellow surgeon, typing aggressively on her phone. 

She was clearly upset. Her brows were furrowed and her ears were red in anger. At some point, she opened her locker and threw her phone inside, making me jump in surprise. She slammed the door closed and took deep breaths as she ran her hair through her hair, before aggressively putting it up in a bun. 

“Is everything alright?” I asked, never moving from my spot. 

“No, not really.” Alice scoffed before looking up at me, directly to my eyes. “Do yourself a favor, never marry a lazy man.” 

“Well, lucky for me, I’m into women too.” I chuckled as she smiled and nodded. 

“You are lucky, yeah.” She bit her lip. “I like them too but uh… I can’t shake off my ex husband. I uh… I‘ve been having him in my apartment for almost a year.” 

“Why don’t you kick him out?” I asked, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. “Sorry for asking, we don’t have to talk about-“ 

“No, it’s okay.” Alice shook her head. “Perfectly okay actually. Talking to you feels good. So, thank you.” 

“Of course, anytime.” I shrugged. “I know we don’t know each other much but if you do need anything… I’m here.” I smiled shyly. 

“Thank you.” She nodded as she fidgeted with her fingers. “Would you like to go out for some drinks later? After our shift?” 

“Yeah, that would be very refreshing, actually.” I chuckled, putting my hands into the pockets of my scrubs. 

“Alright, well, we can meet back here when you’re done.” Alice suggested, walking towards the door, closer to you. “I have to go perform a liver transplant so I’ll see you later.” 

“Yeah, see you later.” I smiled and turned around as she walked past me. “Good luck with the transplant, Dr. Warren.” 

“Thanks.” She smiled, opening the door before turning to you. “Good luck with the hysterectomy, Dr. Y/l/n.” And with that, Alice walked out. 

Later that night.. 

Alice and I sat in a bar at 3 am, laughing about weird things that patients have said to us or things they have… on their bodies… as accessories. 

“I swear I have no idea how he peed.” She shrugged with a laugh as you continued to chuckle before drinking from your beer bottle. 

“Some guys are just so creepy.” I muttered, pushing the empty bottle toward the bartender so he could throw it away. 

We were a bit tipsy at this point. After 3 shots and 4 beers, the alcohol was getting to our head a bit. It was giving us a lot of liquid courage. 

“So are you with someone?” Alice asked, looking at her hands and then up at me. 

“No.” I shook my head. “I used to but he was an abusive asshole.” 

“I get that.” She nodded. “It’s very frustrating and exhausting.” 

“It is, yeah.” I replied, resting my chin on the palm of my hand. “All you want is a fresh start.. with someone who understands you and just doesn’t ask too much of you because you work 30 hour shifts.” 

Alice stayed quiet and nodded with a sad smile. She stayed looking at me and I stared at her, looking into her eyes. And that’s when I noticed for the first time that her eyes are green. 

And her nose is small, like a button nose. Her lips are ridiculously pink and they look soft. And she has these random small moles around her face, a certain one on top of her lip. The one I want to kiss. 

“You know you’re more beautiful than I thought you were.” Alice muttered, trailing her eyes down to my lips. 

“Oh yeah? How so?” 

“Well, I always saw you around the hospital but always from afar.” She began. “Never up close, never really spoke to you this much.” 

“Glad to know you’re not disappointed.” I smirked. 

“Never. With you I'll never be disappointed.” She replied as the both of us began to notice how close we were. 

I wanted to kiss her and she clearly wanted to kiss me. Yet something small held us back. Probably the fact that her ex husband is waiting for her back home. 

“I really wanna kiss you.” Alice whispered, standing close to me. Close enough for me to smell her perfume. 

“What about your husband?” I whispered back, looking down at her body and back at her eyes. 

“Ex husband.” She mumbled. “He’s worth shit.” 

I chuckled and began to fidget with the pocket of her scrub before pulling on it to pull her closer. “If I kiss you I don’t think I’ll be able to stop.” 

“I wouldn’t want you to.” Alice smirked and looked into my eyes before I cupped her cheeks, finally pressing our lips together. 

Alice brought her arms up to my shoulders as I moved my hands down to her lower back, pressing her against me. The kiss began to get heated causing me to part from her to look around. Luckily, not even the bartender was there so I grabbed her waist and moved her to a table, helping her sit on it. 

Our lips came together again, even more desperate than before. I trailer my hands up her thighs and moved them under her shirt to touch her warm skin. She moaned into the kiss and in that moment I just wanted to fuck her. Right there. She was so intoxicating, in the best way possible. 

Her hands gripped my hair as her legs wrapped around my hips, pushing me closer to her. We almost tumbled over the table, causing us to chuckle into the kiss. 

“Hey!” Someone shouted, causing us to part in fear to see the bartender. “You can’t fuck in here, get out!” 

“I’m so sorry.” I mumbled, hurrying over to the bar to grab our things before quickly walking towards Alice. She got off the table and grabbed her purse. 

“I’m sorry, sir.” She chuckled under breath. “Have a good night.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me outside to walk to the parking lot. 

That’s when we both realized that I had driven over there. Alice didn’t have her car since Jack had dropped her off at the hospital. 

“Do you want me to drive you home?” I asked, taking out my car keys. 

“If it’s not a problem.” 

“Oh of course not, I don’t mind.” I chuckled, opening the passenger door so she could climb inside my car. 

The car ride was a bit quiet but it was a comfortable silence. Alice spoke a bit about how she wanted to move out, away from him. I was almost gonna suggest that she move in with me but tonight was the first time we talked this much. I didn’t want to freak her out. 

After a little while, she told me we had arrived. It was an old apartment building but it looked okay to live in. Alice unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to me, looking into my eyes again.

“Thank you for driving me.” She said with a smile. 

“It’s no problem.” I shook my head. 

Alice stared at me and licked her lips before biting her bottom one. “Can I kiss you?” She whispered and of course, I nodded. 

She began to lean in and I cupped her cheek before bringing our lips together. It started with a peck but then they began to move slowly and passionately. We wanted to remember this kiss for as long as we could. We didn’t want to stop and just leave it here. We wanted more. 

I parted from the kiss first, remembering that it was almost 4am and the both of us had to get some rest. I licked my lips and looked into her eyes before pecking her lips quickly. 

“We have to get some rest.” I whispered. 

“I know.” Alice chuckled. “But I don’t want you to go.” 

“I don’t want to go either.” I replied, shaking my head. “Call me if you need anything, okay?” 

“Mhm.” She smiled as she nodded. “I’ll text you when I wake up.” 

“Alright.” I nodded. Alice pecked my lips once more and opened the car door, stepping out before walking to the door. She turned around one last time and waved at me before going inside, disappearing into the building. 

Little did I know that it was the last time I was gonna see Alice. At least in the real world.

The next day..

I never received a text from Alice and part of me felt like maybe last night was just a joke to her. That it meant nothing. But something felt off. If she felt sick or anything she would call the chief of the hospital but no one has heard or seen Alice. 

At the end of my shift, I decided to go over to Alice’s place. The silence was becoming a bit odd. She wouldn’t just disappear like that. So I drove over there, went inside and walked up the stairs. Once I stood in front of the door, anxiety filled my mind, making me unsure on whether I should knock or not. 

‘Oh, fuck it.’ I knocked on the door and waited a few before it opened. A man opened the door, he had long hair and glasses. Looked like he hadn't seen a shower in a week. 

“I don’t have change, I just have a 20.” He said and looked up to see me. “Sorry, I thought it was the pizza guy.” 

“There’s no problem.” I smiled awkwardly. “Um.. I’m just looking for Alice Warren. I was hoping this was her apartment.” 

“I’m her husband, Jack.” He replied and looked at me up and down. “She’s not here right now but can I take a message?” 

“Um, I just wanted to see if she was alright since she didn’t-” I got slightly cut off by a loud beep coming from his computer, which caused him to look at it in a hurry. “She didn’t go to work today and she hasn’t been answering my calls or anything… so, I just wanted to see if she was alright.” 

“She’s fine, she’s just not here right now.” Jack shrugged. “I’ll tell her you stopped by and to call you. Good night.” 

“Wait-” And the door slammed shut. “What the fuck?” I muttered before walking away. 

Once I got home, I made myself a quick dinner before hopping in the shower. Right after, I sat on the couch and turned the TV on, ready to see reruns of That 70s Show. It was a rainy night, so the windows were frosted due to the apartment being warm. I was almost completely asleep when there was a loud knock on the door. With an annoyed groan, I got off the couch and walked towards the door to see William, my ex boyfriend. 

“What are you doing here?” I asked, opening the door. 

“Just wanted to see how you were doing.” He smiled weirdly. “Can I come in?” 

“Um..” I began, looking inside before turning to him again. “Yeah… yeah, sure.” 

I stepped aside and he walked in, looking around to notice new furniture. It has been almost a year since our breakup, so I changed a few things around the apartment. The kitchen was different and the living room as well. There were a couple plants around, giving life to the place.

“So, do you need anything?” I asked, crossing my arms. 

“Yeah, I just wanted to tell you something.” William nodded, scratching the back of his head. 

“What is it?” 

“See you in Victory.” He smirked.

“Wha-” I began but was quickly cut off by a metal pipe connecting to my temple. 

My body fell with a thud and I saw complete darkness as William dragged my body across the floor and into the bedroom.
